GPS Angel Manager Software Is Not Working Correctly

Support Staff October 08, 2009

If you're having problems with the GPS Angel Manager software you should perform the following 3 steps in order:

  1. Verify that the GPS Angel is working properly.
  2. Verify that the proper software drivers are installed.
  3. Check the software.

Step 1 - Verify The GPS Angel Is Working

Install the GPS Angel in your car and verify that you see sweeping green lights and hear a chime, and then eventually followed by 2 solid green lights.

  1. Turn your car ignition on.
  2. Make sure the cigarette lighter power adapter is pushed in far enough into your cigarette lighter plug - a small green light on the power adapter will be lit if is.
  3. Make sure the flat end of the cable is pushed firmly into the cigarette lighter power adapter.
  4. Make sure the "plug" end of the power cable is pushed FIRMLY into the side of the GPS Angel.

If you do see sweeping green lights, then the GPS Angel is working properly. Proceed to Step 2 below.

If you do not see sweeping green lights, something may be wrong with your GPS Angel. You should submit a request for help.

Step 2 - Verify The Proper Software Drivers Are Installed

The GPS Angel Manager software cannot update the database on your unit if Windows is unable to detect the device when it is plugged in to your computer. This may be caused if your device isn't properly connected, isn't connected to a primary USB port, or the necessary software driver isn't installed.

Follow these instructions to see if the proper driver is installed and to install it if necessary. After installing the driver and after restarting your computer, if you are still unable to use the GPS Angel Manager software then proceed to Step 3 below.

Step 3 - Checking The Software

Try each of the following items one at a time:

  • Make sure that you launch the GPS Angel Manager first BEFORE connecting your GPS Angel manager to the computer.
  • Make sure the cable is FIRMLY plugged into the GPS Angel.
  • Try all the USB ports on your computer, including the ones on the back of the computer, to see if one works better than others.
  • Try to temporarily the firewall and/or virus scanning software prior to launching GPS Angel Manger (re-enable it after syncing the database).
  • If running Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the GPS Angel Manager software and run it as Administrator.
